If you are an artist, or have any in your life, there is one thing that we all have in common – an inability to say no to a good sketchbook. (Or no to any sketchbook for that matter 😊) I have close to 10 sketchbooks currently, and that is low. If you were to look in more than half of them, you would find nothing but blank pages. Some say, that collecting sketchbooks is one hobby, and actually filling them is another.Â
So, how do I get them filled? Well, there are lots of ways to accomplish this. Some may like to junk journal or sometimes referred to as art journaling. Which this is basically using the sketchbook to create mixed media pages. Or you can just draw and color in it. I like to do a mixture of both in mine.Â
There are a ton of resources to challenge yourself to fill your sketchbook and prompts to use if you get stuck. Â I am currently attempting to complete 2 sketchbooks by the end of the year. Hope you will follow along with me to see where they end up.Â
Just remember that sketchbooks don’t have to be pretty, they should be a reflection of you. If the blank white page scares you and you feel like you don’t want to mess things up, start by messing that page up. After that first page is down, then it doesn’t feel so intimidating anymore.Â
The most important thing when starting a sketchbook is just have fun.Â
I always look forward to your sketches
